This lure draws inspiration from my experiences fishing in South Texas, where we frequently used live shrimp with a popping cork or free-lining in the flats and off piers. Live shrimp were essential for targeting species such as red drum, black drum, speckled trout, flounder, and sheepshead. Although live shrimp are highly effective, they lose their appeal to fish once their tails or legs are bitten off. Despite experimenting with various artificial shrimp lures, we were unable to replicate the lifelike action and presentation necessary for use with a popping cork or drifting.
To address this challenge, I collaborated with a local marine biologist and an expert lure maker who studied shrimp behaviour and movement. Together, we developed the most lifelike shrimp fly on the market. This shrimp fly is perfect for imitating the action of live shrimp when used with a popping cork or drifting.
