Our Origin Story
Growing up in South Texas, I developed a passion for fishing alongside my father from the moment I could walk and hold a rod. My angling adventures have taken me across the United States and around the world. Frustrated by the lack of suitable fishing rods in the market, I dedicated five years to designing and field-testing the world's finest three-section popping rods.

Innovative Engineering
Our Stickbait Popper 60 (PE3) and 170 (PE8) rods are the culmination of meticulous engineering, crafted specifically for casting poppers, stick baits, bucktails, and streamers. Our innovative three-section design surpasses the performance of most single-section rods available today. To cater to a global market, all our rods feature technical information in US imperial, metric, and PE systems.

Collaborative Development
In our quest to design and field-test the perfect rods, we experimented with lures from around the world. The Charybdis lure emerged from a collaboration with a local marine biologist and a skilled lure maker, following an extensive study of bluefin tuna feeding habits. We discovered that tuna often prey on smaller sardines, revealing a gap in the market: existing small poppers and stick baits were too light for effective casting with heavy tackle. To solve this, we developed a lure weighing at least 60g (2oz), ensuring both casting distance and a natural appearance in the water.

Versatility and Quality
Recognizing the need for smaller lures with strong hooks for presenting to large pelagic species, we incorporated streamers and flies into our popping rods' repertoire, even experimenting with trolling these streamers. Our commitment to quality is exemplified by our choice of BKK hooks and rings for all our lures. This decision is rooted in reliability; I've never lost a fish due to a bent BKK hook.

At Predator Baitfish Tackle, our dedication to excellence drives us to continuously innovate and provide anglers with the highest quality fishing gear.
